“The formal organization of the Associate Reformed Synod took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 1, 1782…Reverend John Mason was chosen as moderator. Fourteen ministers were present…The Associate Reformed Synod subscribed to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms and used only the Psalms of Scripture in its worship in song.”*
From the humble beginnings in 1782, The Associate Reformed Presbyterian church has grown to a size of 290 churches in 2010. With a focus on the free offer of the Gospel to the world, accomplished through the education of church members and the planting of new churches, the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church looks to continue to grow.
The Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church is a small denomination with a big reach. While most of our churches are located in the Southeast, we have churches from Canada to Florida and from Georgia to California. Our work in missions takes us around the world to places like Spain, Mexico, Germany, India and points in between.
